What the rules say
From Etsy's image requirements and best practices. Each one is a rule we check.
Required
- No transparent PNGs. Etsy doesn’t support transparency — transparent parts of the image appear black.
Recommended
- 635 px or more. The first photo needs at least 635 px in width and height to avoid showing up lower in searches.
- 2000 px or more. Etsy’s recommended width and height for listing photos.
- Landscape or square. The first photo sets the thumbnail; landscape leaves room for Etsy’s square and portrait crops.
- 1 MB or smaller. Larger files may not finish uploading on a slow connection.
