What the rules say
From Google's image requirements. Each one is a rule we check.
Required
- No text added over the photo. “Shop now”, prices, discounts, “Free shipping”, warranty claims, words like “Best” or “New”.
- No watermarks or added logos. Stock watermarks, copyright marks, store or brand logos placed over the image.
- No badges, barcodes or QR codes. Stamps, stickers and codes added in post-production.
- The actual product. No “coming soon” graphics, logos, icons, line art or mockups instead of the product.
- No border. Frames of any colour around the picture.
- No other products. Nothing that is not sold together with the main product.
- Within the limits. Up to 64 megapixels and 16 MB.
Recommended
- 500 × 500 px or more. Required for all products from 31 January 2027.
- About 1500 × 1500 px. Google’s size for the best performance in every format.
- Product fills 75–90%. Not tiny in the frame, not cropped tight.
- Keep AI metadata. Images made with generative AI should keep their IPTC AI tag.
